It's kind of unremarkable, but for $26 locally and with a brass body it's very nice! Smooth and consistent writer, too, at least on papers that matter. Fan of this. Here pictured with my current notebook/journal, an A5 Kartos, which is not a Thing I Like unfortunately. Very nice in every way except it's not lay-flat and all of my inks bleed with both of my (very different) Pilot Mediums.
I have this thing in my head about the Reliable Friend Object. Just one of those items that isn't really bulletproof but feels like if anything were to happen to it it'd be your fault and yours alone. I feel this way about my Olympus OM-1 (except the meter), the Seiko 5, the Toyota Hilux, and to some extent this Metropolitan. I've had some inconveniences with the squeeze converter, but the brass shell, reasonable price, and easy operation do make it feel like it belongs in this list. Of course, this list is mostly myth — the objects on it are reliable, and are better than others in this respect, but there is no magic to them. I think it's honestly a little leftover evil that I won't expand on here.
